SAMIL is an integrated design and manufacturing company providing full system solutions to diverse industries. The principal focus of the company is the automotive industry globally and in India. SAMIL provides an end-to-end range of design and manufacturing solutions to the automotive customers, including product concept and product design, engineering, manufacturing, sub-assembly and the production of integrated modules. The company continues to leverage its experience and the capabilities gained from extensive operations in the automotive components sector to pursue potentially high growth opportunities in various non-automotive sectors.

SAMIL operates its businesses through a number of Subsidiaries, Joint Ventures and Other Consolidated Entities. The principal businesses in the automotive sector are held through Motherson Sumi Systems Limited (“MSSL”) and Samvardhana Motherson Reflectec Group Holdings Limited (“SMR”). The Company holds 33.43% of the equity share capital of MSSL, a company listed on the Indian stock exchanges, which is engaged in, among other things, the manufacture of wiring harnesses, polymer processing and tool manufacturing and elastomer production. SAMIL, along with MSSL, holds an equity interest in SMR, which is engaged in the manufacture of exterior and interior rear view vision systems.

The business portfolio comprises electrical distribution systems (wiring harnesses), rear view mirrors, polymer processing, injection moulding tools, elastomer processing, modules and systems including cockpits /IPs, door trims, bumpers, lighting systems, air intake manifolds, pedal assemblies, HVAC systems, vehicle air conditioning systems, machined metal products, cutting tools, IT services, engineering & design, CAE services, cabins for off-highway vehicles, environment management systems, cutting tools, thin film coating metals, sheet metal parts and cooling solutions for various industries. The Group has invested in technologies that provide manufacturing support including compressors, paint coating equipment, auxiliary equipment for injection moulding machines and automotive manufacturing engineering services.

Through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, SAMIL is now a multinational business with manufacturing and design capabilities. It has customers spread across multiple geographies. The major customers of the company include the 10 largest automotive OEM manufacturers in the world.

SAMIL has 250 manufacturing facilities with a presence in 41 countries across the world and the company is in the process of establishing new manufacturing facilities in India, Brazil , Mexico, Spain and Thailand. Within the automotive industry, the company is one of the largest manufacturers of exterior rear view vision systems in the world.
